During a roundtable organized by the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, with the participation of Amangeldi Orazov, Senior Lecturer of the "Technical Drawing and Strength of Materials" Department at the Turkmen State Institute of Architecture and Construction, a discussion was held on the working trip of the respected President, Hero Arkadag Serdar, to the Balkan province on May 2. This date was marked within the framework of the "Year of Peace and Trust" announced during the Era of Revival of a New Epoch of a Powerful State. During the visit to the national tourist zone "Avaza", an off-site meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan was held, and the President also took part in the opening ceremony of the International Airport in the city of Balkanabat, located near the town of Jebel.
The foundation of the Balkanabat Airport was laid in July 2021 with the direct participation of Hero Arkadag, who at that time held the position of President of Turkmenistan. The construction was carried out by the private company "Gundogdy", a member of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan. In less than four years, an international airport meeting all necessary standards and capable of serving up to 100 passengers per hour was built and commissioned. Immediately after its opening, the airport received four international certificates. In the future, the airport will operate flights to various parts of the world, provide aircraft services, and handle passenger departures and arrivals to other regions. Its importance is further enhanced by its proximity to the Mollagara resort, making it a key destination for foreign guests seeking medical treatment.
Undoubtedly, this event signifies the revival of the Great Silk Road on the territory of Turkmenistan, which once served as its vital artery. Thanks to the efforts of Hero Arkadag and the continuity of the respected President’s policies, this route is now being revitalized. The new international airport becomes a modern logistics hub of the renewed Great Silk Road.
