Every year on October 6, Turkmenistan observes the Day of Remembrance — a day dedicated to honoring those who died on the battlefields of all wars, as well as the victims of the 1948 Ashgabat earthquake. On this day, a flower-laying ceremony is held at the "People’s Memory" memorial complex, commemorating and paying tribute to our ancestors who sacrificed their lives for our independence, freedom, and prosperous life.
Located in the southwestern part of our capital, the "People’s Memory" memorial complex stands as a symbol of profound love for the Motherland. It represents the eternal glory and courage of the Turkmen people and reflects the sacred respect that today’s generation holds for the heroism of their forefathers. Honoring the memory of the nation's heroes is one of the deeply humanistic traditions rooted in centuries past and is an integral part of the Turkmen people's spiritual and cultural values.
The tradition of jointly observing significant dates traces its origin to ancient times and is a noble custom passed down from our ancestors.
May the memorial meals (sadaka) and prayers (dogadilegler) offered in our country for those who have passed away be accepted! May peace and harmony always reign on the ancient Turkmen land!
