In the era of the Revival of the new epoch of the Powerful State, in the Year of "International Peace and Trust," under the wise leadership of our esteemed President, the spheres of education and science are actively developing and improving in the country. The pursuit of educating highly educated young people, deepening their knowledge, fostering interest in science and education, improving independent work skills, identifying talented youth, and enhancing the preparation of specialists at higher educational institutions — all of this contributes to the implementation of the concepts for the development of digital education in Turkmenistan, as well as the improvement of teaching disciplines in the natural and exact sciences.
As part of the ongoing work to integrate higher educational institutions of Turkmenistan into the international ranking of the best universities, on March 18, 2025, the IV Open International Online Olympiad in the discipline "Strength of Materials" was held at the Turkmen State Architecture and Construction Institute, involving students from universities in Turkmenistan and foreign countries.
The Olympiad was opened with a congratulatory speech by the Rector of the Turkmen State Architecture and Construction Institute, B. Mammedov.
Students from 18 countries participated in the online Olympiad, including Azerbaijan, Australia, the USA, Belarus, Armenia, the Islamic Republic of Iran, the Republic of Fiji, the People's Republic of China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Malaysia, Uzbekistan, Pakistan, the Russian Federation, Romania, Turkey, Uganda, as well as from universities in Turkmenistan. A total of 895 participants from 117 higher educational institutions took part in the Olympiad (95 of which were from foreign countries), including 665 international students.
The discipline "Strength of Materials" plays an important role in the preparation of modern engineering and technical specialists. It is the science of the mechanics of solid bodies subjected to changes in shape (deformations). As a general technical discipline, it teaches methods of calculating the strength, stiffness, and stability of simple structures and their elements, such as buildings, machines, and technological equipment, and serves as the foundation for the preparation of future engineers.
In the era of the integration of Turkmenistan's educational system into the global scientific and educational community, the main task is to identify dedicated, talented, creative, and successful young professionals. The expansion of opportunities for using digital information and communication technologies creates conditions for the mass participation of gifted students in competitions and projects. Holding such competitions helps identify talented youth who are capable of conducting scientific research and solving complex problems for innovative technological sectors of the market, contributing to the dynamically developing economy of Turkmenistan.
Thanks to the pursuit of knowledge and love for science, our students occupy prize-winning places in competitions held at the national and international levels, raising the prestige of our country. These successes are a bright result of the efforts of the respected President to harmoniously develop the education system.
The IV Open International Online Olympiad in the discipline "Strength of Materials" had a positive impact on the exchange of experience, strengthening international cooperation in the field of education, and expanding its reach.
Professors and teachers from foreign universities also participated as members of the jury.
In honor of the IV Open International Online Olympiad, an exhibition was organized, showcasing the scientific research and project work of the faculty and students of the Turkmen State Architecture and Construction Institute. The guests were shown the exhibition and introduced to projects developed by the faculty and students of the Institute. Among them was a project for a new complex of buildings for the Turkmen State Architecture and Construction Institute, prepared by the Institute’s faculty. Construction works for the new building are being carried out at a high level, and it is expected that the new building of the Institute will be opened in September 2026 in Ashgabat.
