From Theory to Practice: Youth on the Construction Site

On May 26, 2025, an engaging and impactful field training lesson was held for second-year students of the “Urban Construction” major of the Faculty of Architecture and Construction. The session, led by experienced department lecturer M. Nuryyev, took place at the construction site of the new building complex of the Turkmen State Architecture and Construction Institute, where construction is actively progressing by the private enterprise “Ajayyp Gurlushyk”.

The company’s specialists gave detailed explanations to the students about various situations that may arise on a construction site, labor protection and technical safety regulations, and measures to prevent and respond to emergencies. Afterwards, the students, together with the company specialists, became familiar with the ongoing construction processes at different parts of the site.

During this field  lesson, students particularly focused on the construction of the 800-seat library. Through a Q&A session, they gained an in-depth understanding of the work. At the location where reinforced concrete work on the columns of the second floor was ongoing, the students studied the dimensions (brands and classes) of reinforcement bars, and observed the connection between reinforced bars and formwork with their own eyes, even attempting to perform the task themselves.

Students also explored the marble installation work in the academic buildings of the faculties and gained deeper insight into how marble is placed and cut.

This field session, organized by the lecturers of the “Industrial and Civil Construction Engineering” department, not only explained the technical aspects of construction processes but also aimed to develop students’ problem-solving skills and their ability to work in teams. Such field training sessions create broad opportunities for young builders to gain practical experience, strengthen their professional competence, and confidently begin their future careers.
