INTERNATIONAL SCIENTIFIC-PRACTICAL CONFERENCE "ASHGABAT – PEARL OF NATIONAL ARCHITECTURE, CENTER OF SCIENCE AND EDUCATION" WAS HELD

On May 21, 2025, the Turkmen State Architecture and Construction Institute hosted the international scientific-practical conference “Ashgabat – Pearl of National Architecture, Center of Science and Education”. The event, dedicated to Ashgabat City Day and held during the “Year of International Peace and Trust”, took place in a digital format. The conference was organized in line with the "Strategy for International Youth Cooperation of Turkmenistan for 2023-2030" and adopted educational concepts, as well as to fulfill the tasks set by the Esteemed President. Key objectives included fostering a highly qualified and broad-minded generation, attracting talented students to science and training scientific personnel, and introducing innovations into the science and education system.

Professors, postgraduate students, doctoral candidates, and master's students from higher educational institutions in Turkmenistan and abroad participated in the conference. Specialists from domestic and foreign scientific institutions and companies also joined the discussions.

For the first time, participants had the opportunity to explore an exhibition showcasing the results of scientific research and design work by the faculty and students of the Turkmen State Architecture and Construction Institute. Guests viewed the exhibition and design projects by the institute's instructors and students. Among them was the ongoing construction of a new complex for the Turkmen State Architecture and Construction Institute in Ashgabat, with its project prepared by the institute's faculty, and the opening of the new building is anticipated in September 2026. A number of modern design projects created by the institute's faculty and students have been successfully implemented.

The exhibition highlighted unique ideas and innovations from talented young architects, offering a fresh perspective on the future of our Homeland and the development of cities and villages. It vividly demonstrated how the large-scale urban planning policy, initiated by Hero Arkadag, is consistently implemented and successfully continues under the leadership of our Esteemed President.

The Institute conducts scientific research focused on addressing current production challenges in priority scientific areas for our country, including environmental and natural resource management, energy, chemical technologies and the production of new competitive products, construction, architecture and seismicity, and information technologies. To coordinate the interaction between science, education, and production, an IT Scientific and Technical Center was established at the institute in October 2024.

The main goal of the conference was to strengthen friendly ties and foster mutually beneficial exchange of scientific information and experience among professors, postgraduate students, and university students from Turkmenistan and abroad, as well as scientists from research institutions and company specialists. Professors, doctoral candidates, and representatives from higher education institutions in the USA, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Italy, the Russian Federation, the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan participated in the international scientific-practical conference via digital system.

During the plenary session of the International Scientific-Practical Conference, foreign scientists presented their reports. They highlighted the traditions and features of their peoples' architectural art, as well as innovations in modern urban planning and technological developments actively implemented worldwide.

Discussions on topics related to: developing comfortable urban environments; designing in harmony with nature; enhancing the effectiveness of architectural and construction education; training highly qualified specialists; generated considerable interest.

Following the general session, the conference continued its work in sections. One section, titled "The Role of National Patterns in Modern Architectural Art," took place in the small conference hall of the Turkmen State Academy of Arts. Scientists, professors, and instructors attending this section had the opportunity to visit the exhibition held in the exhibition hall of the Turkmen State Academy of Arts. Guests viewed projects executed by students and faculty.

The primary objectives of the International Scientific-Practical Conference include achieving the integration of education with science and production, organizing scientific exchanges among university faculty, postgraduate students, and students, identifying talented students, engaging them in science, and training scientific personnel. It also aims to cultivate young specialists capable of solving current scientific and practical problems arising in production and scientific research.

In our beloved Homeland, alongside other sectors of the national economy, the construction and industrial sector is rapidly developing. Tasks related to creating innovative production within the construction and industrial complex, building large industrial enterprises, increasing capacities for import-substituting products, and enhancing the export potential of the industry are being successfully addressed. The digital economy is also being actively implemented. Through these efforts, new, exemplary cities, towns, and modern villages are emerging, embodying the creative spirit of modernity while preserving ancestral national architectural traditions.

Our pearl capital, our white-marble city of Ashgabat, recognized as the region's largest business and cultural center, combines all the characteristics of a rapidly developing modern city. Ancient traditions of national architecture form the basis of this unique feature.
