The participation of Turkmen athletes in major international competitions is a clear testament to the growing prestige of our country's sports on the global stage, as well as the successful sports policy pursued by the President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov.
A notable example is Kerim Kerimov, a 3rd-year student specializing in “Cartography and Geoinformatics” at the Faculty of Road Construction of the Turkmen State Architecture and Construction Institute, competed in the Sambo and Combat Sambo World Cup held in Yerevan, Republic of Armenia, from April 12–14, 2026. Competing in the 71 kg weight category for Combat Sambo, he performed excellently and was awarded the silver medal.
Furthermore, Selim Nurberdiyev, a 4th-year student in the same “Cartography and Geoinformatics” specialty, participated in the Alysh (Kyrgyz Wrestling) competition held in Bishkek, Kyrgyz Republic, from April 12–14, 2026. Competing in the 80 kg weight category, he achieved a podium finish and earned the bronze medal
