TURKMEN UNIVERSITIES COOPERATE WITH US UNIVERSITY
In Kent, Ohio (USA) on 02.10.2024, a meeting was held between the President of Kent State University, Todd Deacon and a delegation from Turkmenistan, supervisory the Deputy Minister of Education A. Atayev and M. Orazov, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkmenistan to the United States was also present at the meeting. This meeting became the first milestone in the development of cooperation between higher educational institutions of Turkmenistan and Kent State University directed to the sustainable development of relations and development of support programs.
During the meeting three Memorandums of Understanding were signed between Kent State University and other universities in Turkmenistan: International University for Humanities and Development, Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, and Turkmen State Institute of Architecture and Construction. These agreements are aimed at expanding academic programs, creating participants in educational and scientific initiatives, and strengthening cultural exchanges between the countries.
One of the main topics of discussion was the opening of a branch of the Kent State University in Turkmenistan, a draft roadmap that was previously prepared by the Turkmen side. Within the framework of the visit to the University of Kent, plan was worked out in detailed of all aspects of this important beginning.
Particular attention was paid to the cultural events dedicated to the 300th Anniversary of the birthday of the great philosopher and poet of the Orient Magtymguly Pyragy, which will be held within the framework of this visit. Representatives of Turkmenistan expressed their gratitude for the opportunity to organize this event and emphasized its importance in strengthening cultural ties and developing links between changes.
During the meeting, it was also noted that under the leadership of the Esteemed President of Turkmenistan, work is underway to create Turkmen universities in the international educational space, and cooperation with leading universities such as Kent is an important part of this strategy.
