TURKMEN STATE ARCHITECTURE AND CONSTRUCTION INSTITUTE PARTICIPATED IN THE TRAINING CONFERENCE ON INTERNATIONAL QS AND THE RATINGS

On September 19-20, 2024, the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the National Office of the Erasmus+ Program in Uzbekistan, and the Tashkent State University of Uzbek Language and Literature named after Alisher Novai, held a seminar within the framework of technical assistance of the European Union. The seminar was devoted to the theme “Strategies for SMEs: Succeeding and achieving excellence in QS and THE international rankings”. The main goal of the event is to demonstrate the effectiveness of the quality of education in Uzbekistan’s higher educational institutions that meet international standards.

Shohruh Daliev, Deputy Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation of the Republic of Uzbekistan and Aziza Abdurakhmanova, National Head of the National Office of the Erasmus+ Program in Uzbekistan, as well as Diyor Umarov, Director of the Department of International Cooperation and Rating of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation of the Republic of Uzbekistan, participated and made speeches at the seminar.

At the seminar on the rankings and importance of international universities, the main expert was Professor Ellen Hazelkorn. She discussed key aspects of the quality of higher education and provided valuable recommendations for university representatives.

In the seminar, the professor introduced the existing rating systems (mainly THE, QS and ARWU), talked about their requirements, methodologies, advantages and disadvantages. During the two-day seminar, Ellen Hazelkorn, BH Associates international expert on education, consultant, honorary professor of the University of Dublin, editor-in-chief of political monitoring of higher education, member of the European Union Advisory Committee on Higher Education (HESS) and member of the European Union Strategic Committee of Higher Education, attended the seminar and they recommended the use of rating systems for THE, QS and ARWU to improve the quality and effectiveness of education provided at higher educational institutions, including the Turkmen State Architecture and Construction Institute.

Also, during the seminar, representatives of higher educational institutions who received well-deserved positions discussed their achievements and shared their experiences in the context of international rankings.

This seminar was part of the European Union’s Technical Assistance Missions (TAM), which are designed to support higher education reform experts (HERE) with tailored, hands-on guidance. TAM promotes the improvement of higher educational systems by organizing seminars, conferences, meetings, as well as its own interactive discussion.

This seminar, held within the framework of the Erasmus+ program, is of great importance in bringing the Turkmen State Architecture and Construction Institute to the world arena, and is related to the further improvement of the country's higher educational system and the introduction of innovative technologies.
